TE KOUMA is very well positioned for exploring the rest of the Coromandel Peninsula. For example, its an easy drive over the ranges to Whitianga and the beautiful east coast beaches. Or, you may prefer to cruise north to the top of the Coromandel Peninsula and explore Jacksons Bay.
COROMANDEL TOWN, a 10 minute drive away, has delightful restaurants and shops, and it is a place you can stock up on provisions too. It boasts about five Art Galleries with handcrafts and artworks. In fact, Coromandel is the craftiest little town in New Zealand!
We also recommend a visit to Driving Creek Railway and Pottery, the Kauri Grove of lovely large trees, and children will love the Waiau Waterworks on the way.
